AT312 Intro to Contemplative Photography

AT312 Intro to Contemplative Photography

from 600.00

This course introduces spiritual practices to cultivate vision, or seeing with "the eyes of the heart" (Eph. 1:18).  Amateur photographers and visual learners (aspirants welcome) will practice mindful seeing through creative photography assignments and visio divina (prayerful gazing practice akin to lectio divina.)  Using the medium of photography to encounter aspects of the holy revealed in imagery, participants will reflect on themes in Christian spirituality and on the invitations to growth that follow seeing in a new way.  As a personal practice or tool for spiritual direction and pastoral care, contemplative photography can serve to deepen presence and vision -- in the service of compassion, healing, and community.  Pre-class participation requires a camera or smart phone and advance reading.
